The Chief Referee is the official with final authority to pause or order a retake when an equipment fault occurs. This role oversees the on‑platform decisions, ensuring safety and fairness, and decides whether a lift should be paused to fix the issue or retaken if the fault prevents a fair attempt. The lifter or coach may request a pause or retake, but the ultimate ruling comes from the Chief Referee. The Head Referee supports officiating and consistency, but does not override the Chief Referee’s final decision on equipment faults.
